Leather is timeless, elegant, and forever classic. But like anything else, it requires maintenance and cleaning in order to keep it looking beautiful and strong. Regularly cleaning your leather will vastly improve the product's lifespan as well as keep it looking stunning as ever. And hey, let's be honest - sometimes your dog just likes to go romp around in the mud with NO regard to that pretty collar and leash set you bought him. In order to help when this arises (because TRUST US we've been there), we've gathered a step-by-step process to use when your dog's leather goods need a liiiiittle extra love and care.
Use these tips to keep your dog's leather collar and leash looking so fresh and so clean, clean!
Step 1 (with finished leather only): Take a soft cloth or toothbrush and dip into soapy water. Gently scrub the leather to remove excess dirt or to clean any item that is significantly dirty. If the leather is unfinished/natural, skip this step.
Step 2: Use a lightly damp cloth and apply a pH balanced leather cleaner / conditioner combo like this one. Rub product gently into the leather to clean and condition at the same time. You know what they say - two birds!
Step 3: Wipe with a clean cloth and remove any excess leather cleaner.
Step 4 (optional): Lightly apply lavender oil – it smells divine, is naturally antibacterial, and is a natural flea repellant.
There you have it! Have no fear after a particularly muddy play sesh with your dog - just use these four steps to keep your leather looking sparkly clean and good as new!
